President Donald Trump stated on the weekend that he has invited the loved ones of a Guard member fatally shot last week to attend the executive mansion.

He noted that he contacted her parents and they were “deeply grieving”.

Background on the Heartbreaking Shooting

Specialist Beckstrom, 20, was lost her life in a attack on Wednesday in DC.

Her comrade, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, continues receiving treatment in grave state.

Gatherings across West Virginia have been held in their honor.

Presidential Invitation

The commander-in-chief stated he’s discussed a White House visit for the families of both individuals of the state National Guard.

“I stated: ‘When you’re ready, because that’s a hard experience, arrive at the White House. We’re going to recognize Sarah,” Trump informed reporters. “And similarly with him, recover or not.”

Community Response

Mourners came together over the weekend at Webster County high school in West Virginia to pay respects to Sarah.

Both she and Wolfe had been serving with the state guard as part of the president’s national effort to assist public safety in the capital.

Honoring Sarah Beckstrom

“She was the individual that teachers wished for. She conducted herself with quiet strength, a contagious smile and a optimistic attitude that lifted those around her,” Hankins, the leader of Beckstrom’s previous school, told the press. “She was kind, compassionate and always willing to help others.”

Funeral arrangements for Beckstrom are still being arranged.

Legal Actions and Policy Revisions

Law enforcement have accused a twenty-nine-year-old individual from Afghanistan with one count of first-degree murder and two counts of attempted murder while carrying a weapon.

The tragedy prompted the government to pause refugee claims and temporarily stop granting entry permits to possessors of Afghan passports.

Andrew Wolfe, a native of the city, enlisted in early 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman High, according to the Associated Press.

Attorney general Pam Bondi stated on the program that she planned to speak to the family.

Legacy of Sarah Beckstrom

Beckstrom, from Summersville, graduated from Webster County High in June 2023 and joined the military shortly after, serving as a law enforcement officer with distinction, according to the West Virginia National Guard.

“She had a lot of goodness and she definitely had courage,” Morrisey informed the gathering at the vigil. “Though her time was cut short, she has left a mark that’s going to endure.”
