Additionally, a robust market exists on Telegram, where communities with numerous of members share “before and after” photos, injection guides and claims of rapid British shipping. Vendors market the drug there before directing buyers to WhatsApp for purchases.

Understanding The Experimental Drug

Retatrutide is an experimental injectable created by US drugmaker Eli Lilly. The drug targets three intestinal hormones – GLP-1, glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide and glucagon. Preliminary studies indicate it could help patients reduce up to a quarter of their body weight. Referred to as the “triple G”, the drug is being hailed online as the next Ozempic.

When questioned whether the substance was authentic, one seller said: “You can’t be sure.” Another shared a image of a supposed testing documentation. Not one inquired about weight, health issues or previous experience.

Product Details and Pricing

Inside these communities, posts show dark colored parcels with postal service stickers, stating to contain fresh supplies. One message read: “It took eight of us to load them this morning.”

Customers can choose between dry substance containers, prepared at home with purified liquid, or ready-to-use injectors usually priced at 160 pounds for 20mg. When asked how long a pen should last, sellers give contradictory answers ranging from a several days to “depends on your body”.

A spokesperson for Telegram said it regularly monitored dangerous material on its service including content that promoted the “misuse of controlled medications”. The company noted that it removed “millions of pieces of harmful content each day”.

“People are administering substances they can’t verify. Even if the research behind this drug is valid, these online products may not include what they claim,” stated a pharmacy expert, the director of pharmaceutical services at Chemist4U.

Dr Crystal Wyllie of an online medical service linked the increase in interest to recent cost increases for approved slimming drugs such as Mounjaro. “With prices rising, individuals are using social media. But fake injections are highly risky. You cannot know what’s inside or whether the conditions they were produced in was sterile,” she said.
