People have assembled around the country to remember the second anniversary since the Hamas-led attack on October 7th, 2023, as talks proceeded in Egypt over an end to the conflict in Gaza.

The assault resulted in over 1,200 people dead and 251 others captured back to Gaza as hostages. It was the single most lethal day for the Jewish community since the World War II.

Israel answered by beginning a defensive operation in Gaza which has killed over 67,000 people, according to the territory's Hamas-controlled health ministry. Its statistics are considered reliable by the United Nations and other international bodies.

"Our bloodthirsty opponents have caused great damage, but they have not overcome us," Benjamin Netanyahu stated on Tuesday.

He also promised to "accomplish all the objectives of the war: the release of all the abducted, the elimination of the Hamas regime and the guarantee that Gaza will not pose a risk to Israel".

Commemorative Events Across Israel

The Israeli government postponed state commemorations until October 16th - after the conclusion of the festive season - but events still were held around the country on Tuesday.

A remembrance service for the loved ones of Israeli citizens killed in the Hamas attack was conducted in Tel Aviv. Organized by the families themselves, it was televised on Israeli television channels.

Hours earlier, a moment of silence was held around the country.

Ceasefire Meetings in Egypt

Simultaneously, Israeli and Hamas negotiating teams convened in the North African tourist destination of the negotiation venue for a continuing round of third-party negotiations to discuss the conditions of the proposal.

A senior representative familiar with the negotiations revealed that an night meeting of negotiations began at 7 PM local time.

The official said the earlier meeting concluded without tangible results, because of differences over the recommended Israeli retreat arrangements from Gaza and over guarantees Hamas wants to make certain Israel does not restart combat after the initial stage of the arrangement.

He commented that the negotiations are "difficult and have not yet deliver any real breakthrough," but mentioned that mediators are making efforts to close the differences between the two sides.

Key Matters in Talks

  • An enduring truce
  • The trade of the prisoners still held by Hamas for inmates from Gaza
  • The removal of Israeli forces from Gaza
  • Arrangements for assistance distribution
  • Post-war governance of the territory

Public Sentiment

In the city's public square previously, young Hagar - whose family member lived through the attack on the Nova music festival, where hundreds were murdered and numerous more were taken hostage by Hamas gunmen - shared: "No location seems like home now and until all the hostages come back not a single person will feel safe."

"When we see everybody home returned, we can feel relief once more. Then we can start to rebuild," she concluded.

Outside the leader's official dwelling in the capital, people assembled to express their solidarity for the families of the hostages. Israel reports nearly fifty remain in captivity in Gaza, 20 of whom are considered to be surviving.

Activist one woman remarked: "It's necessary do whatever arrangement required for the abducted to come back home. But we truly desire assurances that we will be secure."

Surveys now regularly indicate that approximately seventy percent of the population want the war to end in as payment for the freedom of the abducted.

Gaza Circumstances

At the location of the gathering, grieving people gathered to honor the dead.

From the site, the noise of military attacks and artillery could be heard just a brief space away in Gaza, where observers reported the severe Israeli attacks carried on.

In Gaza City, air and artillery strikes were reported in the morning of Tuesday in the west side Tal al-Hawa, area and zone districts and in the eastern district of that sector, as well the camp to the northwestern area.

"When the night arrives, the fear appears with it," displaced urban resident a local woman, whose 17-year-old son was killed by an Israeli air strike earlier, described.

"Me and my three children are fearful of the air strikes. During nighttime we are sleeping together, clinging, especially my smallest child who places his head on me all night."

"Continuously we check the news to see developments. And I'm concerned that this truce will not be achieved and that the fighting will return to us."

Humanitarian Emergency

The medical facility in Gaza City reported it had accepted the bodies of half dozen people by the afternoon, including three killed in an Israeli attack in the southern area.

A different healthcare center in the southern urban center of Khan Younis indicated another two victims had been brought there. One of them was killed by Israeli troops while looking for assistance to the south, medics reported.

The region's health ministry said a significant number of the {territ
