It's difficult for the Australian squad to break new ground.

The greatest achievements have long been mastered.

We're talking about the unit that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, plus six more T20 titles, and once went nearly four years undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, the ones sought by the peak baggers, are all that remain for a squad that has achieved everything.

That it took until Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase over 300, reclaiming their record for the highest in the female 50-over format, is, in truth, a testament to the bowlers that have represented Australia over the last half-century.

It's difficult for their batsmen to hold a record if never given the opportunity.

Ultimately, the outcome of Australia conceding 330 was skipper Alyssa Healy receiving a chance to deliver her latest masterpiece.

Originally famous as the young family member of famous ex Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she debuted in 2010 after Australia didn't secure either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups from the prior year and has seen it all through 15 trophy-laden years since.

Success in the T20 World Cup came three months after her debut and seven international trophies have resulted from 10 attempts across formats.

The gritty keeper was present as well in Derby in 2017 when a last-four loss by India temporarily stopped the run of success.

That loss "motivated us to reevaluate our levels," Healy commented earlier.

At the following one-day championship in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the title decider and was awarded tournament MVP. She made sure her country would not fall short again.

Whether this recent magnificent innings surpassed that earlier display can be debated.

Some will argue the reasoning behind final game tension. Different voices suggest with the challenge that comes when facing a record target and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

What's clear is this ton was much more difficult to predict.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 occurred when she was the highest scorer, but this performance was preceded by six games in India over the past few weeks in which she had failed to pass 30.

"If you've been watching me in the nets, it's been a frustrating experience because it appeared I lacked timing at all," stated Healy.

"Yet the moment you take the field, your competitive instincts take over and you just lock into the competition."

Healy's competitive nature has consistently been her key asset - and a priceless quality in taking over from iconic ex-skipper Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's promising player Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, dismissed by the young fast bowler in all three matches, but this time it merely gave Healy's inspiration.

A single came off the opening delivery and from that point the batsman was in motion.

"An opportunity to go out there and engage in competition with her and simply enjoy myself in that regard, kind of motivated me," commented Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 deliveries - her quickest at the global tournament - and her century in 84 deliveries while she attacked short-pitched balls, scoring 21 fours and three big hits.

By the time she was out her side required another 66 at a run-a-ball - a manageable total now demanding an easy conclusion.

"To chase 330 is unfamiliar ground so I am glad we have the belief to achieve that now," added Healy.

"Hopefully we don't have to do it again but, if we do, we know we can achieve it."

Those words will be the last rival teams at this championship should hear.

Over the past five days a sense they will succeed regardless of circumstances has become more firm - this victory following victory over Pakistan by 107-run victory despite struggling at 76-7 at one point.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before an encounter with traditional opponents England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a semi-final place may probably be guaranteed.

It was at that stage they left last year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - an encounter Healy couldn't play because of damaged tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the inaugural occasion at a major tournament.

Such is her determination, she afterwards commented she regretted not playing despite the injury.

Yet even as she subsequently acknowledged those fitness problems have delayed plans to retire, this World Cup is anticipated as her final tournament as skipper in one-day cricket and she is still to achieve a global event as skipper.

Triumph in India would take her to the summit of her final mountain.
