The top legal official in Texas Ken Paxton is taking legal action against the manufacturers of acetaminophen, asserting the firms withheld alleged dangers that the medication presented to pediatric cognitive development.

This legal action follows thirty days after President Donald Trump advocated an unsubstantiated connection between consuming acetaminophen - also known as paracetamol - throughout gestation and autism in children.

Paxton is filing suit against J&J, which previously sold the drug, the exclusive pain medication approved for women during pregnancy, and the current manufacturer, which presently makes it.

In a declaration, he stated they "betrayed America by making money from suffering and marketing drugs ignoring the risks."

Kenvue states there is lacking scientific proof linking Tylenol to autism spectrum disorder.

"These companies lied for decades, deliberately risking millions to increase profits," Paxton, a Republican, said.

Kenvue stated officially that it was "deeply concerned by the dissemination of inaccurate information on the reliability of paracetamol and the possible consequences that could have on the well-being of women and children in America."

On its website, Kenvue also stated it had "regularly reviewed the applicable studies and there is lacking reliable evidence that indicates a established connection between using acetaminophen and autism spectrum disorder."

Associations speaking for physicians and health professionals concur.

The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists has stated paracetamol - the main ingredient in Tylenol - is among limited choices for women during pregnancy to treat discomfort and elevated temperature, which can present significant medical dangers if ignored.

"In over twenty years of studies on the use of paracetamol in gestation, zero credible investigations has conclusively proven that the usage of paracetamol in any period of pregnancy results in neurodevelopmental disorders in children," the group stated.

This legal action mentions current declarations from the previous government in asserting the medication is reportedly hazardous.

In recent weeks, Trump caused concern from public health officials when he instructed women during pregnancy to "fight like hell" not to take acetaminophen when sick.

Federal regulators then released a statement that medical professionals should think about restricting the consumption of Tylenol, while also stating that "a proven link" between the drug and autism spectrum disorder in children has not been established.

The Health Department head Kennedy, who supervises the FDA, had vowed in April to initiate "extensive scientific investigation" that would identify the origin of autism spectrum disorder in a short period.

But experts warned that finding a single cause of autism spectrum disorder - thought by researchers to be the consequence of a complicated interplay of inherited and external influences - would prove challenging.

Autism spectrum disorder is a form of permanent neurological difference and impairment that impacts how individuals experience and relate to the surroundings, and is recognized using physician assessments.

In his legal document, the attorney general - a Trump ally who is campaigning for the Senate - asserts Kenvue and Johnson & Johnson "deliberately disregarded and tried to quiet the evidence" around paracetamol and autism.

This legal action seeks to make the companies "destroy any promotional materials" that claims Tylenol is safe for pregnant women.

The Texas lawsuit mirrors the concerns of a assembly of mothers and fathers of children with autism and ADHD who took legal action against the makers of acetaminophen in two years ago.

The court rejected the case, stating investigations from the family's specialists was inconclusive.
