Suspected Harasser Asked: 'Yet What If I Might Be Madeleine?'
A individual accused with harassing Kate McCann apparently left her a phone message which questioned: "imagine I am Madeleine?"
The defendant, 24, who court testimony revealed has repeatedly claimed she was the missing Madeleine McCann, and Karen Spragg are facing charges accused with stalking Kate and Gerry McCann between June 2022 and February this year.
On Monday, Leicester Crown Court heard phone records and evidence retrieved from phones recorded Ms Wandelt repeatedly asking Madeleine's mother for a biological test throughout 2023 and 2024.
Madeleine's disappearance in 2007 - at the age of three during a family holiday in Portugal - is among the most widely reported missing child cases and remains unresolved.
'I Don't Want Money'
A separate recorded message, played in court, documented Ms Wandelt stating: "I realize I'm heavy and unattractive like Madeleine used to be, but I feel what I feel."
While one recording of Ms Wandelt's recordings with Mrs McCann's answerphone stated: "Imagine there is a slight possibility that I am Madeleine? Then what? Is that not crucial for you?"
"I don't want money, I possess a life here in Poland, I simply desire to understand," she added.
The jury was advised that via emails, SMS messages and communications, Ms Wandelt demanded a genetic test, transmitted early photographs to her phone in a effort to display a similarity to Mrs McCann's missing daughter, and stated to have "memories" from a childhood with the McCanns.
An intelligence analyst, an intelligence analyst with law enforcement who gathered the data, advised the court there "showed no any replies" from Mrs McCann.
Ms Wandelt additionally contacted family friends of the McCanns, based on the communication logs.
On October 9th, 2024, the father answered a call from Ms Wandelt to his wife's phone, stating she had "a wrong number."
During that incident Ms Wandelt recorded a message on Mrs McCann's answerphone saying "I will continue and I will prove my claim."
The court was informed the co-defendant struck up a association through digital means with Ms Wandelt before joining her on a appearance to the McCanns' home in the county in last December.
Call logs showed Mrs Spragg had communicated via communication app to Mrs McCann to say the media had characterized Ms Wandelt as "a crazy person" but that she deserved to be considered genuine in the period preceding the visit to the village, the county, in December 2024.
The court heard communications between the two individuals, in November 2024, discussing attempting to obtain Mrs McCann's genetic material from her garbage or from utensils at a restaurant.
"We have to make a stand," the co-defendant advised Ms Wandelt.
On the evening of the appearance to their house, the defendant transmitted a message which said: "We're currently sitting adjacent to the McCanns' residence with our vehicle dark like private investigators. I had hoped to accomplish this with someone else I never thought I would be doing that with the McCanns."
The trial ongoing.
