Six Suspects Apprehended Following 12 Million Euro Heist on Gold Refining Lab in the French Republic

A team of six suspects equipped with high-powered firearms detonated charges to force entry into a precious metals processing plant located in Lyon, France, resulting in minor injuries to five workers during what is being called the latest high-profile broad daylight robbery to occur in the nation.

The audacious robbery occurred on Thursday afternoon, with law enforcement authorities quickly arresting the individuals believed responsible and recovering the stolen goods estimated to be worth €12 million (10.5 million pounds), according to officials.

Five workers of the precious metals facility were slightly hurt from the blast, and three individuals were taken to a medical facility for examination, according to regional authorities. A total of twenty-eight staff were inside the facility when the robbers attacked.

Those arrested, thought to be career criminals, were taken into custody a brief time later in the adjacent municipality of Vénissieux, France, according to investigative sources.

A woman involved who took part in the robbery was likewise arrested, officers confirmed.

“Six individuals who utilized explosives in a raid against a metals processing plant in the Lyon area were apprehended red-handed,” the French interior minister announced via X, commending law enforcement for their “firmness, rapid response and command”.

Military-style weapons, pistols and explosive materials were likewise seized.

The raid happened as authorities on the same day detained five further people, among them a key figure, in relation to this month's brazen Louvre museum robbery.

Many investigative personnel have been pursuing four thieves who used a vehicle with a hydraulic lift and cutting gear to breach a first-floor gallery at the museum on 19 October, fleeing with jewelry valued at approximately 88 million euros.

In a different significant robbery, thieves last month forced their way into the Parisian museum of natural history, making off with gold samples estimated at exceeding $1M. A 24-year-old Chinese woman was apprehended in the current month in the city of Barcelona in connection with the break-in, according to legal authorities.

This series of robberies has sparked worry in the country regarding insufficient protection at cultural venues and other facilities housing valuable items.
