Homages Pour In for the Reiners as Medical Examiner's Findings Remain Under Wraps.
Over a fortnight subsequent to the heartbreaking passing of celebrated filmmaker Rob Reiner and his wife, photographer Michele Reiner, peers and loved ones persist in remembering the couple.
Quoting a Classic: Cary Elwes Remembers His Director
Writing on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who starred in Reiner's iconic movie *The Princess Bride*, mentioned he finally felt prepared to express about his deep grief.
"Adequate time has passed that I can finally express my sorrow into words," shared Elwes, saying that his initial encounter with Reiner created an instant bond. "Once we started passing more hours together I knew this was someone I wanted in my life."
The actor posted behind-the-scenes footage from the production, commenting that he could not remember "any day without joy".
"This story is about love, loyalty and sacrifice. Things that Rob cherished deeply. This is one of the many reasons he was the ideal person to guide it," Elwes expressed.
He also paid tribute Michele Reiner, stating: "Asserting that they were a formidable pair would be an oversimplification. My heart still aches every time I recall you." He concluded with a line from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but existence is agony without you."
Martin Scorsese Reflects on a Fellow Artist
In a distinct tribute, acclaimed director Martin Scorsese paid homage to Reiner, whom he initially encountered in the 1970s.
"Immediately, I loved being with Rob. We had a instant connection for each other. He was very funny and sometimes sharply witty, but he was never the kind of guy who would take over the room," Scorsese wrote.
Scorsese highlighted Reiner's supporting role in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, portraying the father of the main character.
"His improvisation skills with the best. He was a expert at comedy, he worked wonderfully with the cast, and he understood the human predicament of his character," Scorsese added.
Court Proceedings: Autopsy Reports Withheld
Recently, a Los Angeles court official agreed to bar the publication of the Reiners' medical examiner's reports, after an appeal from the Los Angeles Police Department.
A court order issued a embargo on the files to limit the public release of "all case details, notes, reports or photos" associated with the probe.
The Medical Examiner's office had earlier stated their deaths were the outcome of homicide, with a public database noting the cause as "injuries from a sharp object".
Fallout and Commentary
After the tragedy, public individuals offered different reactions.
Former President Donald Trump wrote on the matter, making provocative remarks that were broadly criticized by many commentators.
Podcaster Joe Rogan added his voice to the critics last week. Talking on his program, Rogan labeled the remarks as "shocking" and remarked they demonstrated a troubling deficiency of sympathy.
Rogan ended by remarking that an aide should have stepped in when the choice to comment on the passing was made.
